Rotem Weissmann

Choreographer, Dancer, Performer

Rotem Weissman has developed and deepened her original movement language in each of her works. Her tone is characterized by the use of articulations, joint separations, and the contrast between tension and looseness, broken and released movements. Weissman works with the imagination, questioning how a body can discover and express the artist's fantasies through movement. Her exploration invites openness and active interpretation, both in the performer and the viewer. For Weissman, every body has the potential to manifest a unique landscape, an exteriorization to be discovered from within the body's own somatic history. She is fascinated by the "gap," the space for translation and interpretation between her body and that of the performers. Working with materials from her own improvisational practice, the creative process unfolds as a dialogue between one body/performance and others through interaction, response and imagination.
