Choreographer

The search to break open and further develop choreographic patterns with different formats, to think differently about the "classical" space of the theater and the role of the spectator, have characterized my artistic activity for several years. The questioning of often only partial perception and fragmentary habits of seeing, as well as the resulting body language, always in relation to viral themes of society, let me research the concept of social choreography and implement new insights in my work.

Here I give a special focus to the approach to space and architecture, as well as the observation on everyday situations and everyday gestures. Conscious and unconscious stagings of postures and gestures, which have communicative functions and which have an inherent performative energy, attract my scenically and photographically trained eye. In doing so, I explore the intermediate traces of laid-out and compositionally processed thoughts and materials, which are partly installative and partly performative.

My artistic work for stage, alternative venues and public spaces is dedicated to the encounter with curious spectators, random passers-by or the individual guest. This encounter is direct or indirect, designed as an invitation. In my productions I try to question the "classical role" of the spectators, to break the boundaries between stage and auditorium and to create different atmospheres by combining different elements. I understand the presence of the audience as a part of the choreography, which directly connects with the work and finally makes it a "whole".

My own choreographic works are supported by the Cultural Department of the City of Munich, the Bavarian State Association for Contemporary Dance (BLZT) with funds from the Bavarian State Ministry for Science and Art, the Goethe Institute, the Kunstsalonstiftung Quartier am Hafen Cologne, as well as the Eesti Kultuurkapital Estonia. And among others at the 19th INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL FAKI in Zagreb, FEEDBACK FESTIVAL Athens, at the Labor Ateliers, the schwere reiter, Pinakothek der Moderne Munich, at Dock 11 Berlin, at the Quartier am Hafen and Center for Contemporary Dance, Orangerie Theater in Cologne, at the Museum der bildenden Künste Leipzig and at Španski Borci Cultural Centre, (JSKD) Javni sklad RS za kulturne dejavnosti and Festival plesne ustvarjalnosti mladih ŽIVA Ljubljana.
