Sahra Huby

Dancer

Sahra Huby works as a freelance dancer based in Munich. She studied dance and movement in her hometown Brussels. She learned physical theater at the school "Ecole Internationale de Théâtre Lassaad" and completed a training in contemporary dance at Etage Berlin.

Since 2006 she has been collaborating with many different dance makers all over Europe. Her artistic path is closely linked to the German choreographer Anna Konjetzky in Munich. With her she has created many dance pieces, including a series of solos (e.g. chipping, über die wut, move more morph it...), but she also collaborates with her on many other levels, as a member of the international research project Nomadic Academy and in curating the activities of the studio PLAYGROUND in Munich, where various research and exchange formats take place, where dance takes place off stage and is used as a language to communicate with others, explore issues and enter into dialogue with other artists and the audience.

Her own hybrid format is her project "Catographies" and her long-term performance series in private homes called "Dance Kitchen".

Not only dance, but also drawing is an important part of her artistic work. Recently, she has created many stop-motion films and started the research project "Cartographies", in which she uses drawings and mapping to question the representation and perception of the human body.
