Laura Saumweber

Dancer, Dance Mediator, Choreographer

Laura Saumweber is a freelance dancer, choreographer, and dance mediator based in Munich. In her work, she explores the interplay between artistic practice, participation, and intergenerational exchange. Viewing the body as a repository of memory and nonverbal communication, Laura sees dance as a connecting element that opens spaces for encounter, dialogue, and reflection.

Since 2016, she has developed and performed her own works, which have been presented internationally (including a.A. International Choreography Festival Hong Kong 2017, Buffer Fringe Performing Arts Festival Cyprus 2018, Raíces Barcelona).

Since 2020, she has increasingly created productions for young and intergenerational audiences, including Ode an die Dinge (2022) and Die Sache mit den Dingen (2024). Since 2021, she has worked closely with the Schauburg Munich. There, Viva Wasser (Co-Direction with Susanne Schneider) premiered in 2024. In the 2025/26 season, she is leading an intercultural dance project between Dar es Salam and Munich together with Xenia Bühler and Isack Abeneko. Beyond this, she is active in independent projects and cooperates with the NS-Dokumentationszentrum Munich in movement projects on memory culture with young people. Laura is also Co-Director of grenzen | los | tanzen.

Currently, she can be seen at the Junge Theater Augsburg and initiated the project Tanztee & Prosecco, which brings dance theatre to senior care facilities. As a committed advocate of collective working methods and sustainable collaborations, Laura continuously develops and strengthens collaborative structures.
