Sascha Paar

Sascha Paar is an Austrian choreographer, performer, and dance mediator based in Munich and Graz. He received his training at the Palucca University of Dance Dresden and worked for several years in repertoire operations at various venues. He subsequently worked as Creative Producer for Joint Adventures – Walter Heun and for the Nationale Performance Netz (National Performance Network).

His artistic practice operates within the tension between body, memory, and identity. Central to his work is the question of how cognitive, emotional, and societal experiences are inscribed into the body and how they are remembered, transformed, and transmitted. Drawing from his own biography, he develops works that interweave intimacy and distance, labor and tenderness, as well as ritual and reflection, while conceptualizing the body as a political space.

With TANZZEIT – Generationen in Bewegung, he initiated a mediation format that opens access to dance for older people and focuses on questions of body perception and memory. In his choreographic works, including

GRENZKÖRPER created in collaboration with performer Karl Reinisch, he examines touch, care, and vulnerability as aesthetic and societal qualities.

His piece HEIMATKÖRPER engages with the multilayered concept of "Heimat" (home/native land) and negotiates its meaning between individual experience and political instrumentalization.
