Daphna Horenczyk

Daphna Horenczyk, born in Israel, started her dance training at the age of 15. She graduated in dance from Ironi Alef high school in Tel-Aviv. In the period 2006 - 2008 Daphna participated in a professional dance training program in Kibbutz Gaaton and after her successful graduation she worked as a dancer for the Israeli choreographer Aviv Eveguy. She also worked as a training instructor for Barak Ben-Moshe and as a movement instructor for independent theaters in Israel. In 2009 Daphna Horenczyk moved her residence to Austria and studied performance and choreography at SEAD in Salzburg (Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance).

In 2012 she returned to Tel-Aviv. There she worked as a teacher and performer, as a training director for independent dance and theater productions and developed her own pieces. These were presented at various festivals such as Intima Dance, TLV Dance, Tmuna Festival (IL), MAAT (PL) and Interlab (AT). Since October 2015, Daphna has been living and working in Munich, teaching regularly at Tanzprojekt München and giving workshops in Germany and abroad. She herself calls her research work in contemporary dance and her movement analysis Center-Periphery-Center, describing the focus of her dance research.

Daphna Horenczyk: "I believe that every living creature is nourished from its center to the periphery, and back to the center. This cycle applies on movement as well. In my teaching I am exploring and researching the appliance of this assumption as a principle, as a tool for analyzing movement and as a way for maximizing the potential of the individual's movement range and creativity."

Collaborations with artists include Ayelet Yekutiel, Guy Bernard Reichmann, Ayala Brasler Nardi, Omer Uziel, Ariel Cohen and Maya Wasserstrum.
