Natalie Bury

Dancer, Choreographer, Teacher

The Swiss dancer and choreographer Natalie Bury was born in Munich and at a young age was introduced to dance by her mother, an experienced ballerina at the Stuttgarter Ballet, Het National Ballet and Bayrisches Staatsballet. Natalie's education began at Iwanson, School for Contemporary Dance in Munich, she then attended the Ballettakademie Benedict-Manniegel finishing her diploma education in classical and contemporary dance. Natalie also completed a five year Kung-Fu apprenticeship, classical singing training and attended several intensive programs of acting schools. In 2008 she joined the B&M dance company (Opus M), where she danced contemporary pieces from the repertoire of Prof. Heinz Manniegel. In 2014 Natalie started her work as a freelance dance artist and choreographer. Predominently Natalie created independent works for her own label "natiism", as a dancer, performer and choreographer. 2014 she produced her first dance film ''IN CONTROL''. This work was invited to the renowned Interfilm Short Film Festival 2016 in Berlin (Category: Body Talks/ Dance Shorts). In September 2016 she performed her solo-piece "Monsta" at the first edition of the Hier=Jetzt Festival for contemporary dance at Schwere Reiter Theater in Munich. In May 2017 "Monsta" was invited to the solo-duo festival Barnes Crossing in Cologne. Natalie choreographed the piece "Mensch Maschine" performed by a cast of twelve Asian dancers and premiered in April 2017 as part of the Ars Technica 7/ "Kaleidoscope". For the next edition of the Hier=jetzt festival 2017 in collaboration with Tanztendenz , Natalie presented her new solo "Frau Müller und die Suche nach der Wirklichkeit" at Schwere Reiter Theater, this was also shown at the Ars Technica 2017 in April and September at BlackBox,Gasteig and Bürgerhaus Pullach. Together with the choreographer Marie Johanna Richter and Volker Michl and the foundation mitsprache.de, she worked together with young migrants to choreograph a dance theater piece „Helden_Projekt" 7th edition at Schauburg Theater in coproduction with HochX Theater in May 2017 in Munich. In September/October 2017 she choreographed and perforned with Ada Ramzews a full evening solo/duo program "Multimove" at BlackBox, Gasteig Munich and Bürgerhaus Pullach, consisting of six different pieces. April 2018 Natalie was again invited to HIER=JETZT Festival with her trio „RCP Remote Controlled Parents“ supported by Tanztendenz and Kulturreferat Munich. Later that year Natalie to took her solo „Frau Müller und die Suche nach der Wirklichkeit“ to Gdansk Dance Festival , Tanztheater Erfurt Festival and Raw & Polished Festival, Tanzzentrale Nürnberg. In March 2019 Natalie premiered her new Solo: „Fucking Beautiful“ at Open Stage, at Tanzhaus Zürich and toured to FIDCDMX 2019 The International Contemporary Dance Festival including performances in Mexico City, Italy, Switzerland, Greece, Portugal and Germany. As a choreographer Natalie's project „Fucking Beautiful Extended“ was chosen by a jury led by Akram Khan for TalentLab#20 at Theatres de la Ville de Luxembourg, mentored by Wim Vandekeybus.

As a dancer Natalie was engaged in 2020 for the Opera Production „Amerika“ at Opernhaus Zürich by Martin Zimmermann. In July 2021 Natalie started her new creation WOMAN during her residency at Tanzhaus Zürich.

In April 2022 Natalie presented her Solo Fucking Beautiful at TanzNetz Dresden and at Tanzlabor Ulm.

April and May she was invited to lead as a mentor the Mentoring Lab of Tanzquelle Munich for the creation process of her piece WOMAN.
