Jasmine Ellis

Choreographer, film director

Jasmine Ellis is a Canadian choreographer and film director, internationally active and based in Munich since 2013. Trained at the Etobicoke School of the Arts, the School of Toronto Dance Theatre, and Codarts Rotterdam Conservatory, she has worked professionally since 2006.


As Artistic Director of Bad Posture Productions gUG, she leads a non-profit company working at the intersection of movement and film for stage and screen. Her work has been supported by the City of Munich, the Canada Council for the Arts, the Fonds Darstellende Künste, and the National Performance Network, and has been presented at Residenztheater Munich, HochX Theater, ARGEkultur Salzburg, and Place des Arts Montreal, in collaboration with Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz and Sommerszene Festival.


Led by Ellis' distinct voice, her projects weave together familiarity, vulnerability, and humor, musing upon the human condition through dance, language, music, and film. Recent stage works include Everything That Is Wrong With Me (2024) and Reality Warping (2023). Recent films include Deerman (2024), Fringe (2022), and Seventh Direction (2023) / Arc'teryx. Her films have screened in competition at Ann Arbor Film Festival (2018, 2025), Internationales Kurzfilmfestival Oberhausen, and International Film Festival Rotterdam.


She is also the founder of Bad Lemons Project, a professional training initiative for dancers, and co-initiator of T29 - dance space, working to build sustainable structures within Munich's dance scene.
