Katrin Schafitel

Katrin Schafitel, dancer, choreographer, freelance artist, Shiatsu practitioner – a boundary-crosser between body art, perception, and transformation. For over 25 years, she has lived and worked in Munich, developing a distinctive artistic signature that regards movement as an aesthetic and energetic field of tension. For her, the body is a seismographic instrument – sensitive, permeable, and constantly in dialogue with space, time, and society.

Her work unfolds at the intersections of dance, music, video, and visual art: on stage, in experimental film and music projects, in interdisciplinary research formats, and through interventions in public space. As a freelance dancer, she has collaborated with numerous choreographers and directors, has been seen at national and international festivals, and has received awards, scholarships, and honors both in collaborative works and in her individual work.

In her current projects, Katrin Schafitel pursues a radically open, curious practice beyond fixed categories. Her artistic strategies combine the magic of dance with transpersonal experiences, integration, and transformation processes. Playfully yet precisely, she explores spaces where inner connection and physical presence meet, opening up fields of experience where the individual can rediscover itself.

She understands dance as a principle of life: open, exploratory, and in continuous dialogue with herself and her environment.
