Sahra Huby

Dancer

Sahra Huby works as a freelance dancer. She is also co-director of Studio PLAYGROUND in Munich together with Anna Konjetzky and Quindell Orton.

She studied dance and theatre in her hometown of Brussels, where she trained in physical theatre at the École Internationale de Théâtre Lassaad. She also studied contemporary dance at Die Etage in Berlin. Since 2006, she has collaborated with numerous choreographers across Europe, including Ismael Ivo, Jo Fabian, Heike Hennig, Sebastian Hirn, Theatre Fragile, CADAM, Annette Geller, Ilona Paszty, and Eleni Kamma.

Her artistic path is closely connected to the choreographer Anna Konjetzky in Munich. Together, they have created numerous dance works, including a series of solos such as chipping, über die wut, and move more morph it. Their collaboration extends across various formats of research and exchange, where dance is not only presented on stage but also used as a language to communicate, explore themes, and engage in dialogue with other artists and audiences.

Since 2016, she has developed her own hybrid format: the long-term performance project Dance Kitchen, which takes place in private homes. In addition to dance, drawing and stop-motion film play an important role in her work. In the research project Cartographies, she uses drawing and mapping to question the perception of the human body. This work led to the interactive website The Atlas Project and the piece Hey Körper?!

In 2024, she was awarded the City of Munich’s Dance Promotion Prize.
