Questions anybody? – Open consultation-hour of Tanz- and Theaterbüro

You’re having an idea for a project and don’t know how to realize it? Your calculation needs some fine-tuning? What’s the Künstlersozialkasse and how do I get in there? You’re looking for a light or set designer? Which insurances do I need as a freelance artist? And what about contracts?

You’re very welcome to ask all those questions concerning the realization of productions in the free scene in the common and open Zoom-consultation-hour of Tanz- and Theaterbüro. If there is a need of further counselling there is the possibility to arrange individual consultation.

Consultation available in German and English.

17. & 18. FEBRUAR 2022

As part of our series initiated with the Theaterbüro 2021, which focuses on thinking about diversity development for cultural workers, we are offering a two-day workshop on Audio Description with Quiplash in February.

In the first session we will focus on some general disability awareness, blind awareness and audio description methods. The class will include some practical exercises.

In the second session we will explore what it means to integrate audio description into performance, this class will also include some practical exercises.

The sessions will be intensive but run in a relaxed way. By this we mean there will be a lot of information in the session, but how/if you interact with it is up to you.

Quiplash is a queer, disability led performance project headed by actual queer crip married couple Al and Amelia Lander-Cavallo. Quiplash has two strands. They do performance and art making such as with their ongoing project Unsightly Drag and Friends, a cabaret and drag show that features Deaf and disabled queer performers. They also work as access consultants with a specialism in integrated audio description. Recent clients include The Barbican, the Wellcome Collection and The Place.

Successful communication in the performing arts for newcomers, returners and anyone who wants to polish their PR skills.

Getting your own artistic project off the ground is exciting. It is an intensive collective process with many participants and an incredible number of tasks until the premiere. This also includes dialogue with the audience, because even the greatest project will fizzle out if no audience comes, the auditorium remains empty or in the end your own grandmother is the only one who pats you on the back after the premiere. What needs to be considered for successful PR? How and where do successful artists pick up their audience?

The PR workshop gives a first orientation in the broad field of public relations. It is aimed at all those who seek dialogue and exchange with others through their own artistic expression and who want to have a lasting public presence. What are the opportunities and limits of PR? How, when and what is the best way to start?

With the help of practical exercises and examples, participants will learn about various fundamental aspects of PR and collect building blocks for their own PR toolkit.
